2011 (most likely) Final Entry - Photo and Class Video/Slideshow

Hi everyone - As  Beth wrote in her email, we hope you arrived home safely and that you will have time to do a final course reflection in your blog in the next week or two.  If you have any comments or suggestions that you would rather not put in a public  blog posting, you can always send them via an email message to Beth, Tim, or me.

Anyway, here is a high resolution copy of the class photo we took yesterday just prior to departure (you should be able to do a right-click on it to save it to your computer for your use):

If you want a copy of the original at full resolution (nearly 5 M), send me an email (sunydigital@gmail.com) and I will get it back to you as quickly as I can.  Make sure you use an email account that can handle larger attachments.

Here's the URL for the YouTube video:

Again, all the best to all of you as you move ahead in pursuit of your professional and personal endeavors.  Please stay in touch and do let us know, from time to time,  how you are doing.

We always have a special place in our hearts for Adirondack Classroom participants.

Cheers!

Karl, Beth and Tim

Thursday - Day Three Photo Update

The instructors took quite a few photos this week.  Here's a link to them:

Wednesday - Day Three

We ended up with a pretty nice day today.   After a morning hike to Ferd's Bog and then up Black Bear Mountain for lunch, we came back down to a nice afternoon with course participants paddling around Raquette Lake in kayaks.  Then a stimulating discussion in the evening about the consumption patterns of people around the world.

Here's hoping that the adventures and topics of discussion will help to spread the word about how beautiful our planet is and how we must start caring for it if these treasures and activities are to be available for those who come after us.

2011 ADK Classroom is Underway - Day One Entry

As a Navy veteran please pardon the title of this post.

Well, everyone arrived in safely (except Matt who is due to arrive today) and in good spirits.  We are thankful that this and it is definitely very nice to have escaped the heat and humidity of home.  Some of the course participants told tales of dangerous conditions in the heat last week.

Raquette Lake is gorgeous and it seems the fish are really biting.

We had some very nice opening discussions and it looks like it will be a good week together.

This morning we are anticipating the arrival of the course textbook author John Slade.  He will be joining us overnight to talk about his writing and hopefully his travels and experiences with young people around the world.

This morning I have KP (Kitchen Patrol) duty so it's off to the Dining Hall to get ready for a busy day.

The Adirondack Classroom - 2011 Edition

Here is my initial blog posting for the 2011 Adirondack Classroom Course.

2010 ADK Classroom Attendees Greet You!

The other instructors and I are very much looking forward to our experience together this summer.  As always, we are hoping for nice weather but we can't always count on this.  We CAN count on a great experience though - no matter what the weather has in store.

This is a public blog, but usually most blog visitors are students getting ready for the class and our time together. But, everyone is welcome to follow this blog.

If you ARE a student in the 2011 Adirondack Classroom course, please post a comment to THIS blog entry to let us know that you have found the main course web site.  In your comment, please also tell us just a bit about yourself (where you live, academic background, teaching or not, etc.).  We always like to have some idea who is coming to join us.

Again, Beth, Tim, and I are looking forward to seeing you very soon.

Karl
